Our Story

Denim for the discerning

Selvedge & Stitch was created to bring a more considered approach to denim in New Zealand.

Since opening our Christchurch store in June 2025, the focus has been simple;
to curate a collection of denim and apparel that values craftsmanship, longevity, and individuality over trend. We bring together some of the world’s most respected denim brands, including Denham, Wrangler and Diesel. Selecting each piece for its quality, construction, and ability to be worn and re-worn over time.

ABOUT SELVEDGE & STITCH

Our Founder

Selvedge and Stitch was founded by David Steans, a lifelong denim devotee with deep roots in the fashion industry. After working with iconic brands like Diesel, Scotch & Soda, and Pepe Jeans, David recognised a growing gap in the market. As denim stores across New Zealand closed their doors, something vital was being lost: craftsmanship, character, and the confidence that comes from wearing pieces that actually mean something.
